Getting Over Building Bridges

Getting Over Building Bridges

May 13, 2013

At the Infuse -Open Mic MAY 12 Every SECOND Sundy event in Phoenix, Arizona I read the following. Thank you Lalli for hosting and snapping an image of me with my camera. Sure hope I can share this in Spokane, Washington at the Broken mic where I read my first poem in public. Bummed that I can’t hem and haw to introduce my latent flaw so here I go with this tale lagin soon be waggin in a wagon pulled by the dragOnIng.A breath of fresh air into my soul by my writing, with my reading, granted by your listening. Building bridges to get on over it, is a good thing when there’s something to be getting over, something needs your attention, something in your process needs the attention of your reflection. But I’m finding in this time I need to be getting over building bridges to just be getting along on the roads that lay past those reflections, those bridges to get on over.l don’t need to tax myself to build another bridge I just need to be on the road where and when the road might be. Netflix streaming “Hustle and Flow” I’m sitting paralyzed wondering where to go. Next. Next vexing me until I Think it’s about time I quit whining bout building bridges to get over it and start getting over building bridges for my wondering what wound I’m crying about! I need to lay some concrete foundation for this bridge, I don’t want to build forever never. A nice little walk on down the road. May as well enjoy the flow, I ain’t dancing the Hustle no more. Apparently I ain’t that hurting, gota escape this winding whining. Idle too long gone tharn in the headlights of the inevitable reaping, don’t need to be running with Scythe in hand ‘neither. Free styling for my next line it’ don’t take me fifty cents to usher in the realization that I’m not Marshaled in a haystack.I will find that pin to pick the lock into the future. Getting’ over building bridges. Enthused by some direction, Infused by open...

Dagu i-Racer Windows Phone 8

Perhaps I should have worn shoes! i-Racer is a Bluetooth enabled Windows Phone 8 application that will control a Dagu i-Racer remote control model car. I posted a short video of the first working prototype of my app to control the Dagu i-Racer remote control car on youtube. No it didn’t go viral but at the time of this writing it’s the most widely viewed nerding of mine in any of the social media with a whopping 1,303 views. I’ve lost a lot of sleep over that one thumbs down – out of eleven. (hi mom) Check out i-Racer in the windows phone store. I’ve also published the source code on GitHub. It’s probably the simplest app _ever_ to use MVVM Light. I don’t even begin to know how to program in code behind. ;-)...

DIY Workbench LED lighting

DIY Workbench LED lighting

Feb 16, 2013

After looking around Homedepot and Lowes a few times I wasn’t satisfied with the price, size or color temperature of any of the lighting solutions I saw. Blam, Pow and Zap! DIY to the rescue. I bought some surplus LED light modules on a string of 20 from MPJA. An eight foot length of angle aluminum and some screws from Homedepot. Got busy this morning, drove to Homedepot and with writing this article I took less than three hours to complete this project. Now I can see quite a bit more clearly on my work bench. I can remove a couple free standing desk lamps for more bench space. Here is a photo shot from my new #wp8 Nokia Lumia 920 showing the LED modules and the angle aluminum. There are adhesive backs on the modules. I soldered on a power connector, found an old 800ma 12vdc wall wart and well… there ya go. And the finished product on my work bench. Now I can get to work on the microMedic contest at Parallax. And my @HomeAmation data logger, and my RaspberryPi node.js Home automation, and my laser robot, and my CNC mill, and yada yada yada sis boom bah! c...

Friday Night Diversion

All the batteries in my perhaps ten year old four handset cordless phone system are pretty much giving up the ghost. Out the door from CostCo I get a new Panasonic system with another four handsets for about eighty bucks. The technology has come a long way. These are so much easier to read. Plus the system is Bluetooth compatible allowing me to make and answer calls with my cell phone. Sweet! Inspired by teardowns by nifty nerds such as EEVBlog and Fran Blanche I do my own tear down of one of the handsets – with a band saw! Pretty dull evening particularly for the band saw blade! r r r r...

My First Single’s Dance

As I left for the singles dance I learned about on MeetUp I tweeted: “33% overweight, no teeth, shabby wardrobe – Heading for a singles dance! http://bit.ly/N8rFqu I did get a haircut! ;-)” Never mind that I had chickened out of going to two previous similar events. I found a reasonably clean shirt in the closet, but I felt it was a little tight and definitely not for going out on a Saturday night (unless it was to a conservative code fest) to the Single’s Dance! Fueling my pony (actually a Seabring convertible) gave me my first opportunity to cop out and flee for home. I pulled into a gas station just as the attended was placing yellow out of order signs on all the pumps. I took a deep breath and kept on going. Next stop? WalMart! They’ll have a shirt that will fit around my Dunlop’s disease and they’re on the way. I can get some Ode de’ cologne too! They didn’t have Ralph Lauren Polo so I settled for Usher ‘cause I like his music. Not sure if maybe I should be wearing white? It’s at the Toluca Lake Tennis club. I elect for my one pair of jeans that fit and a new black shirt that feels good on. Ya clothes gota feel right or just ain’t happening, am I right? Ok I’m here and layout out the dough. I get a 3 of clubs for a raffle later and discount tickets for the next single’s dances. If I attend two more in a row I get the third free? Check out these groovy sunglasses I won in the raffle. And a wide shot I took after the lessons during one of the first few songs. Got bored trying to figure out the flash on my Samsung Focus S while at the WhoopTdoo. It was kinda fun, I’ll probably try it again. Most likely at a larger venue with a live band. My name tag read: “Terry Fied” but it fell off before many could figure out how creative I am… I like to dance, and dance with a woman. I enjoy swing dancing. I’m not that big on the:...
